Trails are evolving. Riders are evolving. Mountain biking is evolving. The new Switchblade is highly capable, highly adaptable testament to the powers of adaptability.
Mountain biking is demonstrably evolving. Trail riding is becoming increasingly dynamic; influenced by the physicality of Enduro racing and the agility of park riding, the best trail bike nowadays has to excel across a wide span of terrain and riding styles. Adaptability and versatility are key. Bearing this in mind, Pivot set a simple design goal for the all new Switchblade: To build the best all-round mountain bike you can swing a leg over.
“The Switchblade makes big gains in its descending performance while improving traction in technical climbing situations,”
says Chris Cocalis, founder and CEO of pivot.
“With more capable geometry and updated dw-link kinematics, the new bike handles better, climbs better, and is more comfortable in a bike park setting but retains its standing as a bike you can ride anywhere. This new Switchblade improves upon every area of performance, and sets a new bar for how a 140 - 150mm travel Trail/Enduro bike should ride.”
Utilization of a slightly longer lower link infused the new Switchblade with Firebird DNA, allowing the 145mm of dw - Link suspension travel to provide better small bump compliance, more tractability and improved bottom out resistance. Geometry has stretched to suit contemporary needs with a slacker head angle, steeper seat angle, increased reach and longer wheelbase. Versatility is added to these refinements with size - specific chainstays and a flip - chip that can fine tune geometry as well as cater to mullet rear wheel configurations.
