Mondraker Crafty Carbon. The Time Has Come For The Next Generation.
Mondraker Press Release
Introducing the next generation of Crafty Carbon. The latest iteration of our most successful e-Bike bar none. Totally redesigned with nothing left untouched, yet clearly, unmistakably a Crafty and still with all the character that’s defined the model since the day it was launched.
The ultimate enduro bike in our full power mountain bike category, it comes with 29” wheels and 160/150mm of travel. The Crafty Carbon range is available in 5 different builds, all with a carbon fibre frame guaranteeing versatility and endurance on the harshest of terrains. With its totally redesigned frame and aesthetics, the new Crafty Carbon range also incorporates the very latest edition of the Zero Suspension System to give you more grip and control than ever before.
A significant update for the 2025 Crafty Carbon range is Bosch’s recently released, revamped Performance CX motor combined with the new lighter and more efficient 600Wh and 800Wh battery options.
CARBON FIBRE: THROUGHOUT
Crafty Carbon counts on an all-new carbon fibre frame manufactured from Stealth Air Car- bon. There are 5 builds available in 5 different sizes with two different chainstay lengths depending on size. The R and RR builds are built on a carbon fibre frame with an aluminium rear triangle. The other 3 builds, the RR S, XR and RR SL are carbon fibre throughout.
The design lines create an imposing silhouette, thanks in part to the incorporation of Bosch’s new removable batteries. The unmistakable Mondraker aesthetic, with characteristic angular, flat structures expressed through our distinctive design language sets the Crafty Carbon apart as it has done since the day of its inception.
AIM OPTIMIZATION
As with the recently released SLY, Crafty Carbon now comes in 5 different sizes thanks to the addition of an ‘ML’ option.
A standout feature is the incorporation of two different chainstay lengths depend ant on frame size. Chainstay length has a significant impact on how a bike handles, and gone are the day of one-size-fits-all. By having two different chainstay lengths we can keep the same ‘feel’ of a Crafty Carbon regardless of frame size. Forward Geometry is thus optimized by adapting chainstay length to frame size. The S, M, and ML sizes get 455mm chainstays, while the L and XL sizes grow by one centimetre to 465mm, ensuring that regardless of frame size the ride ‘feel’ stays consistent throughout the range. Crafty Carbon is our first bike to offer two different chainstay lengths.
The new design is also one degree slacker than the previous generation of Crafty Carbon, making the 2025 model more stable at speed. As well as the new 64.5° head angle, the new frame also comes with a two-position (standard and low) flip chip on the lower shock mount which means you can modify the bottom bracket height by +/- 0.5mm and the seat and head tube angles by +/-0.35° to better suit your style or terrain type.
The kinematics have been optimised too, with the new Crafty Carbon range taking advantage of our updated Zero Suspension System to offer better small bump compliance, better shock absorption and better top-out characteristics. Grip when climbing also receives a significant boost, regardless of terrain.
BOSCH CX PERFORMANCE: LATEST VERSION
A significant update to the new Crafty Carbon range, is the addition of the highly anticipated, totally revamped 2025 Bosch Performance CX. The market leader among full power motors, the CX has been an intrinsic part of every Crafty Carbon since its launch in 2020. Bosch’s new motor incorporates an updated design architecture with two mounting points instead of three, a 100g reduction in weight and a reduction in its overall size.
This updated Bosch CX has the same 85Nm of torque and 600W peak power as the previous model but offers far better power delivery and control. Motor noise is reduced while pedalling and coasting, and mechanical rattles when riding downhill have been eliminated altogether.
The CX’s new software and electronics, together with the improved kinematics of the new Zero Suspension System, mean the Crafty Carbon offers improved performance in all conditions and on all terrain types. The new motor also boasts reduced drag when pedalling above 25km/h.
One additional function of the new motor is the ‘Hill Hold’ mode which, when activated by holding the minus button, keeps the bike from rolling backwards on slopes until you start pedalling. The same option also serves to stop the bike from rolling backwards while being pushed uphill.
KEEPING EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL: PURION 400 DISPLAY
One of the novelties of the new Bosch CX system and the new Crafty Carbon range is the all-new Purion 400 display. A complete revamp compared to previous generations; it sits on the bar next to the stem well out of harm’s way.
Easy to read thanks to its 1.6” colour screen, it can be configured to show information selected by the rider and also comes with audible beeps for notifications and settings.
REMOVABLE BATTERIES: 800Wh AND 600Wh. YOU CHOOSE
The new Crafty Carbon comes fitted with Bosch’s new 800Wh and 600Wh batteries. All-new and improved and assembled using 21700 cell technology, they offer increased efficiency and better energy density than ever before, resulting in a smaller package and reduced overall weight. Combined with the new motor software and electronics of the CX system, the Crafty Carbon is significantly more efficient than previous generations.
The reduced system weight of the motor and 800Wh battery combined results in a 500g weight saving compared to the previous generation Crafty with the 750Wh battery.
The Crafty Carbon R and RR come fitted with the 800Wh battery for greater range, while the RR S, XR and RR SL models come with the 600Wh version to keep the weight down. That said, the batteries are removable (and interchangeable) via a quick-lock system.
EXTRA RANGE: WITH THE 250Wh POWERMORE
All models and frame sizes of the Crafty Carbon offer Powermore range extender compatibility. An extra 250Wh to extend your range or to conquer that last gnarly climb, it’s easily fixed to the main bottle mount on the downtube. Weighing in at around 1.5Kg it’s light and easy to carry either on the frame or in a backpack.
