The Surly Sorceress mountain bike frame is built for riders who want a hardtail that can handle steep, technical descents just as confidently as flowing singletrack. Designed around modern trail geometry and Surly’s signature steel ride feel, the Sorceress delivers a balance of stability, playfulness and climbing efficiency that makes it a seriously capable all-rounder.

With a long front centre, slack head angle and steep seat tube, the Sorceress is right on point for modern trail riding. It stays composed when things get fast and rough, while the steep seat angle keeps your weight centred for efficient climbing on punchy ascents. The low standover height and generous dropper post insertion give you more room to move on the bike—ideal for aggressive riding and technical terrain.

Built from Surly’s custom Natch steel tubing, the frame has that classic steel feel—responsive, durable and smooth over chatter—without feeling sluggish. It’s a frame that rewards pushing harder into rough trails while still being comfortable for long days in the saddle.

Versatility is a key part of the Sorceress design. The new DUH (Dropout Utility Hanger) system, developed with SRAM, gives you multiple drivetrain options. Run a UDH derailleur hanger, go all-in with a SRAM Full Mount transmission, or switch things up with a single-speed setup using the included dropout chips. It’s a future-proof platform that adapts to how you ride.

Key Features:

  • Surly Natch steel tubing – strong, compliant and trail-tuned
  • Modern trail geometry for stability and control on descents
  • Steep seat tube angle for efficient climbing
  • Slack head angle & long reach for confidence at speed
  • Low standover height for improved manoeuvrability
  • DUH dropout system – compatible with UDH, SRAM Full Mount & single-speed setups
  • Designed for 29” wheels (check clearance for tyre sizing depending on build)
  • Internal routing for dropper post
